BERTRAND - The Bobcats had a busy week with a game on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On Saturday, Jan. 8th the Bobcats made the drive down to Bertrand to face the Vikings.

To start the game the Bobcats took an early lead and were up 8-4. However, in no time the Vikings responding right back with a run of their own. The first quarter went quickly and ended with a score of 11-19 in favor of Bertrand.

The Bobcats started off the second quarter with confidence and regained the lead quickly. The Vikings were having trouble with South Loup’s 1-3-1 press and could not seem to score the ball. The Bobcats outscored the Vikings 21-9 in the second quarter.

Going into the third quarter the Bobcats were leading 32-28. Bertrand came out of halftime and they started on a roll. The Vikings hit back-to-back three’s and took the lead. South Loup was having trouble scoring but their defensive stops played a huge role in the third quarter. By the beginning of the fourth quarter the score was 41-38 still in favor of the Bobcats.

All the Bobcats had to do in the last quarter was maintain the lead. They did and were also scoring the ball will ease. Bertrand hit a couple of three’s at the end of the game and almost took the lead, but with a few clutch free-throws the Bobcats secured the win 53-48.

The Leading scorer for the Bobcats was Cache Gracey with 19 points.

The Bobcats played Hershey on Tuesday and were able to secure the win with a score of 53-47. South Loup also played Sandhillls-Thedford on Thursday with a tough loss with a final score of 54-59.
