Sharon Adams, 72, of Merna, Neb. passed away March 4, 2022 at Jennie M. Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Sharon Jane (Olson) Adams was born March 24, 1949, in Anselmo to Loyd B. and Marjorie Evelyn (Moninger) Olson. Sharon attended and graduated from Merna High School in 1967.

Sharon married her high school sweetheart Bill Adams, right after graduating. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversar­y this May. To this union were born is Billy, Stacie, and Shawnda.

Sharon started her healthcare career at JMMMMC working as a ward clerk. She then joined Broken Bow Clinic working for Dr. Leon Books, Dr. Shawn Lawrence and Dr. Ken Loper.

Sharon battled non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma several years and during this time, moved to helping the clinic with insurance. She really enjoyed helping so many people, especially some elderly patients with their insurance issues.

In 2005, Sharon received a stem cell transplant and stayed with her nephew, Bump the III, in Omaha for a couple of months while recovering.

One of the things Sharon enjoyed most was taking grandkids on trips. Be it short trips to the Omaha Zoo, a long road trip to Portland or a trip to get the cousins together, she was always up for an adventure. She was her grandkids’ biggest fan and attended all the sporting events, concerts, and activities that she could.

Sharon was an active 50-year member of the Merna United Methodist Church and an EMT member of the Merna unit for many years. She enjoyed many years as a member of the Mixing Mamas Extension Club. Sharon always had a soft spot for cats and had many beloved pets over the years.

Sharon is survived by her husband William “Bill” of Merna; son Billy (Beth) Adams of Merna; daughters Stacie (Mike) Eckerman of Carroll, Iowa and Shawnda (Matt) Eggleston of Broken Bow; 12 grandchild­ren Tausha, Courtney, Taylor, Brittany, Brandi, Blake, Kenidy, Cassidy, Colten, Caitlyn, Zane and Ivy; nine great grandchild­ren; her mother Evelyn Olson of Merna,; brother Loyd B. Olson, Jr. of Broken Bow; and sister Peggy Halliwell of Grand Island.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father Loyd; and five infant grandbabie­s.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Lana J. Day officiatin­g. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery at later date.

Visitation was Friday, March 11 at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow from 1-7 p.m., with family greeting 5-7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Merna United Methodist Church in Merna.
