Congratulations to our state qualifiers!
The Lady Indian bench erupts in support of their teammates on the floor during the Nebraska State Girls Basketball Championship game in Lincoln. They played a close first round on Monday March 7 against the Gothenburg Swedes. The Lady Indians fell 43-45 and ended their season 22-5. At right, the Mullen Broncos starters await the tip-off at Lincoln Southwest High School in the first round of the Nebraska State Basketball Tournament. On March 8th the 8-seeded Broncos took on the number 2 seed Fall City Sacred Heart Irish in the first round of D-1 state play. In a heartbreaker game for Mullen, the Broncos fell 30 to 56 against the Irish. The Broncos have played in the state tournament five out of the last six years. The Anselmo-Merna Lady Coyotes referred to themselves as the “Women of Will” and that determination and belief led them to a very successful 19-7 season with conference runner-up, a district championship and a trip to the state tournament.
