Area athletes earn post-season recognition

CUSTER COUNTY The Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald each released their allstate basketball selections for the 2021-22 season. Included in that prestigious list are numerous athletes from the Chief Sports coverage area.

Kya Scott of Broken Bow was a C1 second team selection and teammates Jailyn Scott, Joscelyn Coleman, MaKinley Tobey and Halle McCaslin garnered Honorable Mention by both publications.

Anselmo-Merna’s Jaide Chandler was a Class D2 second team selection by both publications. Fellow Coyotes Shaylyn Safranek, Hadlee Safranek, RayLee Downing (OWH/ LJS), Macy Miller, Makenna Miller and Carlee Bartak (OWH) were noted as Honorable Mention.

Other Honorable Mentions in the area went to Halie Kaslon of Arcadia Loup City (OWH/LJS); Mikah O’Neill, Abbie Rohde, Faith Hernandez (OWH/LJS) and Adilyn McFarland (LJS) of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller; Megan Donegan, Taylor Ross and Ava Pandorf (OWH/LJS) of South Loup; Alexis Mauler, Kathy Folkers and Elsie Outtun (OWH/LJS) of Twin Loup; Kaylee Rohde and Carli Bailey (OWH) of Ansley Litchfield; Taylor Svoboda, Shelby Welsh (OWH/ LJS), Whitney Jennings, Jordyn McDowell and Peyton Paxton (OWH) of Mullen; and Tenley Rasmussen, Cylee Jameson and Dayle Haake (OWH/ LJS) of Sandhills/Thedford.

Clayton Moore of Mullen was a boys Class D2 first team selection by both publications. Honorable Mention recognition went to: Keegan Baxter and Austin Harvey (LJS) of Broken Bow; Vince Eurek (OWH) of Arcadia Loup City; Wyat Lambertson and Dalton

Duryea (OWH) of Anselmo-Merna; Calvin Finley, Caden Holm (OWH/ LJS) and Leyton Rohde (OWH) of Ansley-Litchfield; Kellen Eggelsto, and Creyton Line (OWH/ LJS) of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller; Trey Connell and Cache Gracey (OWH/LJS) of South Loup; Quincey Ryker (OWH) of Twin Loup; Trevor Kuncl (OWH/ LJS) of Mullen; and Dane Pokorny (LJS) of Sandhills/Thedford.

The 10 schools that make up the LouPlatte Conference in central Nebraska have released the post season honors for winter sports, including numerous contestants from Arcadia Loup City.

In Boys Basketball, Vince Eurek (12) was selected for the second team and Honorable Mention went to Bradyn Scott (12), Peyton Garrelts (12), Hayden Griffith (11) and Trey VanSlyke (10).

For Girls Basketball, first team honors went to Halie Kaslon (12) while teammates Jessi Heyen (12) and Tatum Kaputska (11) earned Honorable Mention.

In Girls Wrestling, seniors Kylie Jerabek was first team and Gracelynn Paddack was second team. For the Boys, Chase Stieb (12) was first team and Jacob Kuszak (11) and Chase Lewandowski (11) were Honorable Mention.
