Evelyn Mary Tierney, 102, of Broken Bow, Neb., passed away April 28, 2022 at Brookeston­e View in Broken Bow.

Evelyn Tierney was born Sept. 23, 1919 at St. Paul to William and Mary (Bittner) Nelson, the youngest of nine children.

She received her education at St. Paul and graduated in 1937. She attended Van Sants Business College in Omaha, later working there for Dr. Ross Penny as a dental assistant.

She married Cornelius A. Tierney on April 4, 1945 at St. Paul. They lived in the Westervill­e area for 3 years, then to the ranch south of Broken Bow.

Evelyn was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed ranch life, the cattle and Mother Nature, maintainin­g beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.

She always had a pot of coffee and a delicious homemade dessert for visitors.

Evelyn is survived by one son Larry Tierney of Broken Bow; two daughters Carol Hiser of Grand Island and Conni (Rick) Gracey of Arnold; grandchild­ren Cole, Lori (Clint), Christy (Trent), Shad (Jessalyn), Darci (Rocky), Tyler (Nikki) and Jade; great-grandchild­ren Kacie, Travis, Caleb, Shay,

Rory, Evalyn, Izabelle, Bronc, Chyann and Cade: and nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband C.A. in 1980; parents; three brothers Ray, Frank and Norman; and five sisters Grace, Nora, Agnes, Inez and Lorraine.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow with Father Jim Hunt. Burial was in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation and Rosary was at Govier Brothers Mortuary on Monday, May 2 with visitation from 5-7 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m.

Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of arrangemen­ts.
