Bob Schmid

-

With a heavy heart, the family of Bob James Schmid announces his passing at his home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. on April 18, 2022.

Bob was born on his family farm in Ansley, Neb., to Henry and Elsie Schmid on Sept. 16, 1930.

He attended and graduated from Ansley High School in 1949. He and his wife, Peggy Stucker, married March 1, 1952.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, avoiding the Korean War and was stationed in Olympia, Wash. While there, he learned to operate heavy earth-moving equipment.

He returned to the farm/ranch in 1955 to help support his mother. In 1956 the children started with daughter Kim, followed by son Tom, daughter Jody, daughter Lori and son Gary in 1962.

While still farming, Bob got his insurance license and started his second career. In 1964, giving up the farm, he moved his family to Lincoln in pursuit of the insurance business. His success was growing into his own agency, Schmid and Associates.

After raising the family in Lincoln, Bob and Peggy pursued the search for a winter/retirement home, spending many winters in the Hawaiian Islands and Mesa, Phoenix and Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Lake Havasu City won in 1996 with Bob finding the retirement home of his dreams with a beautiful view of the lake and California Mountains.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Lori; his parents; and all his siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years; four children, a daughter-inlaw Rochelle Schmid; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Per his request, there will be no service. Friends are encouraged to stop by and visit and possibly enjoy a cocktail.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hospice of Havasu.
