Alyce (Keefe) McCormick 94, of Lakewood, Colo. passed away April 4, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. after a short illness.

Alyce was born on the Keefe family farm in Garfield County near Burwell, Neb. on Oct. 1, 1927. She was the youngest of ten children born to Matt and Mary (McGowan) Keefe.

She attended Midvale country school through eighth grade and graduated from Burwell High School in 1945.

Alyce married John “Jack” J. McCormick on Oct. 1, 1949 and from this union had three sons William (Bill), Brian and Robert (Bob). She made a home in Cheyenne, Wyo. and Lakewood, Colo.

Alyce was a homemaker, loving mother and a devout Catholic, She was a member of St Mary’s Parish while she lived in Cheyenne and a 55-year member of St Bernadette’s Parish in Lakewood. Her friends and family will always remember her special laugh, the twinkle in her eyes, gestures especially her gesture for “Be Quiet” and “Oh, come on now!” - but most of all, her optimistic outlook on life.

She loved cooking and conversati­ons with her friends but most of all, Alyce loved her family. She had a special place in her heart for her husband, children, grandson, brothers and sisters; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-grand nieces and nephews.

Alyce was a Nebraska farm girl through and through. When the weather was poor she would say, “It looks like it could storm. We could use the rain.”

She is survived by her son Bill; grandson Ryan; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Alyce was preceded in death by her husband Jack; parents; brothers James, Francis, Morris and Bernard; sisters Marie, Irene, Lillian, Catherine and Rose Ellen; sons Brian and Bob; and daughter-in-law Barbara.

Memorial mass will be Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Burwell. She will be interned with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo. at a later date.
