District wrestling results

OMAHA -The Chief area will be represente­d at the state wrestling tournament by 37 male and 4 female wrestlers. Here is a quick recap of area district matches and state qualifiers.

The Broken Bow wrestling team stormed into Mitchell High School and continued their winning ways, capturing the Class C District 4 championsh­ip, 2 individual titles and a total of 11 state qualifiers.

District champions were Colton Kelley (132) and Connor Wells (182). Earning second place were Chauncey Watson (113), Cash Watson (120), Braxon Rynearson (126), Dakota Baum (152), Jack Myers (170), Max Denson (195) and Cal Wells (220). Braylan Rynearson finished third at 145 at Ahren Finney was 4th at 106.

Anselmo-Merna captured the D-2 district title and will be sending 7 wrestlers to Omaha. See the A-M journalism story on page B1 for individual results.

Twin Loup was the runner-up at the C-2 district, sending 6 wrestlers to state and capturing one district title – Slate Micheel at 220.

Second place finishers were Keaton Dowse (138), and Garett Schneider (170). Garrett Keith (152) and Stetson Bottorf (182) placed third while Cazen Smith (145) finished fourth.

SEM qualified two wrestlers at the D-2 finals in Oxford, both with third place finishes: Clayton Scoville at 106 and Treu Atkins at 120.

Sandhills/Thedford will be represente­d by Coby Higgins, 3rd at 160, Rhett McFadden 4th at 182 and Zeb Wilde 4th at 285.

Arcadia-Loup City will send two wrestlers from D-2 including Kaden Reeves, 3rd at 138 and Christophe­r Allen, 4th at 106.

Mullen wrestlers won 5 individual championsh­ips and took 3rd place as a team in a 23-team D-4 district in Sutherland. Knights winning districts and advancing to state include: Jeffrey Forsen (120), Eli Paxton (126), Chase Gracey (170), Tel Kvanvig (220) and Isaac Welch (285).

Dawson Doggett will be the lone representa­tive for the South Loup Bobcats after finishing 4th at 195 at the C-1 district at Pender.

Lady wrestlers qualifying for state include Taylor Weber of Sandhills/Thedford, Jocelyn Ambriz and Morgan Hawkins from Ansley-Litchfield and Kylee Allen of Arcadia Loup City.
