Glen Edmond Haumont was born to Lee Paul Haumont and Letha Ione Pracht on Dec. 6, 1946, in Ansley, Neb. Glen passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 19 days at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, surrounded by his family after an accident.

Glen grew up on the family farm east of Broken Bow, attending Broken Bow High School where he graduated in 1965. He joined the Army National Guard that same year and served until

1971.

Glen helped on the family farm and other odd jobs, until he began driving a semi-truck full time. Glen met his wife, Doris Jean Witherwax, at Roman’s Motor Freight in Ord. He finally convinced her to marry him and they were wed in Broken Bow on Oct.20, 1967. Glen adopted Michael Lee in 1968. They resided on the Haumont Farmstead and later moved into Broken Bow. In 1975, Glen and Doris adopted Robert Joseph and Amanda Faye.

Glen and Doris ran M & G Implement in town for five years. In 1982, the family moved to an acreage west of Kearney. Glen then went to work for Waggoners Trucking where he made frequent hauls to Alaska. He joined JD Enterprise­s in 1988 where he drove long haul across the country.

Glen spent many years pulling his Allis Chalmers tractors with his kids and grandkids, where he met numerous lifelong friends. Glen and Doris sold their acreage in 2008 and moved to Geneva. He then went to work for Fremont Contract Carriers where he didn’t have to tarp loads anymore. Glen and Doris celebrated 52 years of marriage, before Doris’s passing.

Junction, Neb. Glen and Genny were married on Feb.14, 2021 and built a new home in McCool Junction. He and Genny loved to feed the birds, sit on their porch and people watch.

Glen retired from FCC in September of 2021 with millions of miles behind the wheel. He then took a part-time job driving the McCool Junction school van, where he took students home after school. These students quickly became his “bonus” grandkids.

You would often see Glen walking his beloved dog, Wag, around town where he knew no stranger. You could also see

Glen enjoying a cruise in his Thunderbir­d.

Glen was preceded in death by his wife Doris Jean Haumont; his parents Lee and Letha; brothers Clarence and Lee Jr.; his best friend Rick Still; and many treasured family and friends.

Glen is survived by his wife Genny Haumont of McCool Junction; children Mike and wife Anita Haumont of Geneva, Rob and wife Selena Haumont of Hastings, Amanda and husband Bill Schropfer of Fairmont, Susan and husband Steve Gerken of McCool Junction and William and wife Lisa Sterling of Elko, Nev.; grandchild­ren Brent and wife Stephanie Haumont of North Carolina, Justine Truckenbro­d of Omaha, Courtney Haumont of Omaha, Christian and wife Brandi Haumont of Geneva, Destiny Shipman of Omaha, Jared and wife Skye Shipman of Grand Island, Jacob and wife Moran Shipman of York, Wyatt and Garrett Hansen of Fairmont, Dietra and husband BJ Miller of Fairmont, Nathan and wife Morgan Schropfer of Kansas, Kody and Ryan Haumont of Kearney, Joey Koci of Hastings, Madison Gerken of Hastings, and Payton, Braxton and Dawson Gerken of McCool Junction; and 10 great-grandchild­ren with three more on the way.

Glen was a beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, uncle, cousin, bus driver and friend. His greatest joys were his children, grandchild­ren, and great-grands.

A memorial service for Glen will be Thursday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelica­l Free Church in Geneva. Pastor Galen Rasmussen will preside.

The recorded selections “That’s My Job,” “I Can Only Imagine,” “Amazing Grace” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” will be played during the service.

Urn bearers include Brent Haumont, Christian Haumont, Wyatt Hansen, Garrett Hansen, Kody Haumont, Ryan Haumont, Joey Koci, Dawson Gerken, Braxton Gerken, Nathan Schropfer, Jacob Shipman and Jared Shipman.

Honorary Urn Bearers (Glen’s Van Kids) include Wyatt Hoffman, Emry Hoffman, Ryker Hoffman, Wyatt Kirkpatric­k, Kenley Smith, Kason Smith, Kaiden Smith and Beau Morner.

A private Committal of Ashes will be held in the Geneva Public Cemetery at a later date.
