Are we headed for another lockdown?
With the number of novel coronavirus cases doubling in the last two weeks, are you concerned that pandemic restrictions will be restored and that we’re in for a rough fall?
That’s our Question of the Week for readers.
As with all COVID-19-related issues, our society is now expert in the two big problems case-rate increases cause. First, more people getting sick, with some dying and many suffering long-term health consequences.
Second, the economic and mental-health problems caused by restrictions on going out into the marketplace.
In Los Angeles County, 2,767 new COVID-19 infections were reported last Thursday, the highest daily number since February. It was the 14th straight day of new case numbers topping 1,000.

Nationwide, the picture is the same, especially in Southern and rural states where there is much vaccine-hesitancy. What do you make of the national conversation about getting vaccinated that has caused so much rancor among the body politic?

Some Southland cities are telling municipal employees that they must get vaccinated or risk losing their jobs. Is that the right thing to do to protect the citizenry? Fire and police department employees throughout Southern California report a lower rate of vaccination than the public at large. Does that worry you, especially if you were to require the services of an EMT?
What do you think of the “breakthrough” infections that are occurring even among the vaccinated?
Would you sign up for a booster vaccine injection if they become available?
Will children still be returning to campuses and adults to offices this fall?
