Dakoda Fields and Tanu Sosa recorded 14 and 11 tackles, respectively, in Friday’s 28-27win over Long Beach Poly. Serra faces American Fork (Utah) in the Honor Bowl on Saturday.
2. Inglewood 2-0
The Sentinels hit the road and came back with a 29-12 win over Rio Mesa at Ventura College. Inglewood hosts Compton on Friday.
3. San Pedro 1-0
The Pirates’ game with Eagle Rock was canceled. This week they’re scheduled to play Venice on Thursday.
4. Lawndale 0-0
The Cardinals’ season opener against Narbonne was called off. This week, they’re scheduled to visit Carlsbad, which has two games under its belt.
5. North Torrance 2-0
The Saxons outscored their first two opponents by a combined score of 79-7, thanks mainly to Trevor Lagarde, who already has eight passing touchdowns. North visits Lakewood on Thursday.
6. Banning 1-0
The Pilots rushed for seven touchdowns in a season-opening 50-0 rout of Cerritos. Banning visits Peninsula on Thursday.
7. Palos Verdes 0-1
The Sea Kings had a rough start to the season, dropping their opener 42-7against Mission Hills. This week, they’ll get another test at Corona del Mar.
8. Leuzinger 1-0
Ashley Tucker Jr. threw two touchdown passes to Jacob Lewis and added a rushing touchdown in a 22-7 win over Calabasas. Leuzinger visits Birmingham on Friday.
9. Mira Costa 1-1
The Mustangs scored 35points for the second consecutive game but ended up on the losing end against St. Francis. Mayfair is up next on Friday.
10. South Torrance 0-1
The Spartans opened the season with a 48-29loss to Schurr. Carson Hollandsworth scored three touchdowns. South has a road game against Beckman on Saturday.
