Torrance is set to take on Etiwanda for CIF-SS Division 2 championsh­ip

Torrance baseball will be in the night-time slot Saturday for the CIFSS Division 2 final against Etiwanda.

The Tartars and Eagles will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton's Goodwin Field.

Tickets are $12 for general and $5 for student and children and can be purchased online at gofan.co.

Torrance (25-5-1) defeated Gahr (5-4), Arlington (7-0), Rancho Cucamonga (51) and Maranatha (2-1) to advance to its first final since the 2014 team won the Division 4 final.

Etiwanda (24-8) scored 10 runs in each of its first three playoff wins (Temecula Valley, Warren and Pacifica). Tuesday, the Eagles went 11 innings, scoring five runs in the top of the inning, to defeat Palos Verdes 5-0.

Harbor Teacher Prep moves on

Sixth-seeded Harbor Teacher Prep baseball will face third-seeded Maywood CES in Thursday's CIF L.A. City Section Divsion II quarterfin­als.

The Monarchs defeated Los Angeles 8-0 in Tuesday's first-round. Owen Baugh went 3 for 3 and Preston Alferos scored three runs. Arnold Lopez pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out 12.

San Pedro advances

The 10th-seeded Pirates defeated

No. 7 Sylmar in Tuesday's Open Division first round. The Pirates will visit No. 2 Birmingham Friday in the quarterfin­als.

In another Open Division game, No. 9 Chatsworth defeated No. 8 Carson 11-8

SoCal Regionals

The season might not be over for Tuesday's CIF-SS semifinal losers.

In Divisions 1-3, all four semifinali­sts and the finalists in Division 4-7 qualify for the CIF SoCal Regional tournament. Teams can turn down an invitation.

There will be six selections from the L.A. City Section. Their finals aren't until May 28.

The pairings for the regional tournament will be released May 29.
