Who do you like for president in 2024?

-

With the long-expected and now formal entry of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis into the presidential race, the array of GOP choices — with the coming entry of former Vice President Mike Pence — is just about complete.

So, our Question of the Week for our readers is obvious: Who do you like for president of the United States in the 2024 election?

Fear not, Democrats — you get a say in our highly unscientific survey as well. Sure, President Joe Biden's own formal announcement makes him the big enchilada on the combination plate, as any incumbent would be. But at this point, anyone can still enter the fray, and, given Biden's age and other vulnerabilities, some prominent party member will surely buck the establishment and the entropy of incumbency and challenge the president. So, who would you as a Democrat ideally like to see in the White House? Or are you quite happy to stick with Biden?

Did DeSantis's famously rather botched announcement in a live Twitter interview with Elon Musk, which was almost 20 minutes late and filled with technical glitches, hurt his candidacy just as it was being launched? Or will that be forgotten quickly as the extremely popular Florida governor plays to his strengths — youth, huge recent re-election victory, leader of the so-called “Trumpism without Trump” movement?

Or is the Republican momentum still very much with former President Donald Trump, who has led in the polls since he announced his third bid for the highest office in the land? Did he do the kind of job as a populist chief executive, and has he conducted himself in such a manner since then, that you long to see him back?

Does the fresh face and positive attitude of South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott get your vote? Do you like California favorite son Larry Elder for president? Would former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley be your choice as the first woman president of our country?

For the Dems, do you want Gov. Gavin Newsom to run? Sen. Bernie Sanders? Sen. Sherrod Brown? Gov. Gretchen Whitmer? Stacey Abrams?
