Iowa's Clark breaks more records

-

Caitlin Clark has another career record on her astounding resume: the most points by any major college women's player to ever take the court.

Iowa's superstar guard scored 33 points on Wednesday night to lead the sixth-ranked Hawkeyes (25-4, 14-3 Big Ten) in a 108-60 romp at Minnesota, pushing her past Lynette Woodard on the all-time list with 3,650 points.

Clark swished in her first four 3-pointers, three of them from extra deep, and had 15 points in the first 3:18 of the game and 21 points at halftime.

She spent most of the second half flashing her passing skills to find open teammates, but finally with 4:17 left she buried her eighth 3-pointer of the game to pass Woodard. She also set the NCAA single-season record for 3s in the process with 156.

Clark added 10 rebounds and 12 assists for the 17th triple-double of her career.

Woodard totaled 3,649 points from 1977-81 for Kansas when the sport was under the purveyance of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, before the NCAA sanctioned women's basketball. Earlier this month, Clark passed Kelsey Plum (3,527) as the all-time

NCAA women's scoring leader.

Pete Maravich (3,667) is the alltime major college leader for either gender, just 17 points ahead of Clark. Pistol Pete played for LSU from 196770 and, like Woodard, in the era preceding the 3-point shot.

NO.20 OKLAHOMA 71, NO.3 TEXAS 70 >> Lexy Keys hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 4 seconds left to help the Sooners clinch the outright Big 12 title with the home victory.

Oklahoma got possession trailing 70-68 with 13.4 seconds remaining. Skylar Vann missed, but scrambled to the ball and saved it to Keys. She hit the corner shot to push her game total to 16 points.

Payton Verhulst scored 18 points for Oklahoma (21-7, 15-2 Big 12), which split the conference regularseason title with Texas last season.

Madison Booker had 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Longhorns (26-4, 13-4), who had won eight straight since losing at home to Oklahoma last month.

NO.2 OHIO ST. 67, MICHIGAN 51 >> Jacy Sheldon scored 22 points to lead the Buckeyes (25-3, 16-1 Big Ten) to their 15th straight win and the Big Ten regular-season title with a home win over the Wolverines (17-12, 8-9).

The game was revenge for the Buckeyes, whose only conference loss this season came in a 69-60 shocker against Michigan in Ann Arbor Dec. 30. Ohio State hasn't lost since.
