Warriors get by Wembanyama, Spurs

Jonathan Kuminga scored 21 points, Klay Thompson added 20 and the visiting Golden State Warriors overcame a sluggish start to beat the San Antonio Spurs 112102 on Monday night.

San Antonio rookie Victor Wembanyama had 27 points and 14 rebounds in his return from a one-game absence after spraining his right ankle in the first half of Tuesday's loss in Houston.

Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis added 13 points and 10 rebounds, including a one-handed dunk over Wembanyama in the final minute that dropped San Antonio's 7-foot-4 rookie to the court.

The Warriors were without Steph Curry (right ankle sprain).

SUNS 117, CALVALIERS 111 >> Kevin Durant scored 37 points and Devin Booker had 27 in his return from a right ankle sprain, rallying visiting Phoenix to a victory over Cleveland. Durant also had eight rebounds and six assists for the Suns. Booker had missed four games with his injury.

Darius Garland scored 30 points for the Cavaliers.

Cleveland was again without guard Donovan Mitchell because of left knee soreness. MAVERICKS 127, BULLS 92 >> Luka Doncic had 27 points, recording another tripledoub­le but doing so without scoring 30 for the first time in seven games, and visiting Dallas rolled over Chicago. Doncic finished with 14 assists and 12 rebounds, but exited the blowout midway through the fourth quarter to end his NBA-record streak of 30-point triple-doubles at six.

Teammate Daniel Gafford made history by going 9 for 9, extending his run of consecutiv­e made shots to 28. That's the longest since the NBA began tracking playby-play data in 1996-97, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. He scored 20 points. PISTONS 114, HORNETS 97 >> Cade Cunningham scored 12 of his 22 points in the first quarter to help host Detroit build a double-digit lead and he finished with eight assists in a win over Charlotte.

The Pistons have won just 11 games, but they swept the three-game season series against the Hornets.

Miles Bridges led with 24 points, but he shot 9-for-24.

NUGGETS 125, RAPTORS 119 >> Jamal Murray scored 12 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, and host Denver rallied from 21 points down in the third quarter. The Nuggets' Nikola Jokic had his 21st triple-double of the season, finishing with 35 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists.

RJ Barrett led Toronto with 26 points.

CELTICS 121, TRAIL BLAZERS 99 >> Jaylen Brown scored 27 points and Jayson Tatum had 26 for visiting Boston, which became the league's first 50win team at 50-14. Deandre Ayton led Portland with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

HAWKS' BEY OUT FOR SEASON WITTH ACL TEAR >> Atlanta Hawks forward Saddiq Bey will miss the rest of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee, another major blow to the injury-plagued team. The Hawks already have been playing without two starters — top scorer Trae Young and Jalen Johnson — as well as backup center Onyeka Okongwu.
