Colorado gets sloppy win over Boise State
Tristan da Silva Scored 20 points and Colorado won its first NCAA Tournament game in three years, wrapping up the First Four with a sloppy 60-53 win over Boise State on Wednesday night.
A layup by Eddie Lampkin Jr. and a pair of foul shots from J'Vonne Hadley capped an 11-0 run that gave the Buffaloes a 56-49 lead with 24 seconds left in what had been a backand-forth game. Boise State had to start fouling and Colorado didn't miss from the line — and that sealed it.
KJ Simpson had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Buffaloes (25-10), who advanced as a No. 10 seed to face seventhseeded Florida in Indianapolis on Friday.
Chibuzo Agbo had 17 points for Boise State (23-11), which dropped to 0-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. GRAMBLING 88, MONTANA STATE 81 (OT) » Jimel Cofer scored all 19 of his points in the second half and overtime and the Tigers rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat the Bobcats to earn their first NCAA Tournament win in program history in the First Four.
Grambling (21-14) advances as the No. 16 seed in the Midwest Region to play No. 1 seed Purdue on Friday night in Indianapolis.
Robert Ford III made his fifth 3-pointer of the game to tie the game at 78 for Montana State with 2:02 left in overtime, but Grambling iced the game from the free-throw line with eight straight points. Ford scored 26 points for the Bobcats.
Women
Mara Neira made sure Presbyterian's first-ever NCAA Tournament game was memorable, scoring 14 points, including two free throws with 26.1 seconds left, as the Blue Hose beat Sacred Heart 49-42 in the First Four.
The Big South Tournament champions earned a Friday rematch with top-ranked South Carolina, which administered a 99-29 beatdown on this same floor on Dec. 16.
Ny'Ceara Pryor led Sacred Heart with 12 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and four assists. Pryor shot 3-of-19. VANDERBILT, 72, COLUMBIA 68 » Iyana Moore scored 22 points, Sacha Washington had a double-double and the Commodores celebrated their return to the NCAA Tournament with a win over the Lions in a battle of 12-seeds in the First Four. Vanderbilt (23-9), which is in its 28th NCAA Tournament but first since 2014, faces fifthseeded Baylor on Friday. Washington had 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Kitty Henderson had 20 points and nine rebounds for Columbia (23-7).
