West completes sweep of South behind Sharman

The West Torrance baseball team wrapped a tough Pioneer League series sweep over South with Friday's 2-0 win.

Reef Sharman pitched a one-hit shutout and with nine strikeouts to lead the Warriors.

West (10-5, 5-1) scored in the first and fifth innings. Nathan Rivera drove in the first run with a single in the first.

South's (8-6, 4-2) Tymick allowed two unearned runs, two hits with three walks and six strikeouts to get the loss.

In the first meeting Wednesday, West defeated South 3-2 in eight innings. REDONDO 3, CULVER CITY 2>> Simon Landry scored on a balk in the top of the eighth to lead the Sea Hawks (8-5, 1-3) to the Bay League win in eight innings.

Sonny Hurtado tied the game in the seventh with a two-run home run.

Evan Moyer allowed two runs on five hits and two strikeouts in six innings. Maddon McArthur pitched two scoreless innings for the win.

The win snapped a fourgame losing streak for Redondo.

TORRANCE 12, LAWNDALE 0 >> Freshman Aiden Amaya tossed a no-hitter with eight strikeouts in the Tartars (10-4-1, 3-1) Pioneer League win over the Cardinals.

Marcelo Allen, Mateo Rickman, Jacob Faamasino and Anthony Ramos drove in two runs apiece, Joey Villareal and Corey Guy had three hits apiece.

Talk about a wild game between the Mullhollan­d League teams.

The Aviators (8-1, 3-1) trailed the Aztec Eagles 14-2 in the fourth inning and were near a loss via the 10-run rule. In the fourth inning, the Aviators sent 20 batters to the plate and scored 15 runs to take a 17-14 lead.

In the sixth, the Aztec Eagles (2-5, 1-4) retook the lead at 18-17 with three runs, but the Aviators again responded scoring three for the wild win.

Jenny Hess had a double and a triple and drove in five runs. Natalie Eraza had three hits and four RBIs. Karol Acosta walked four times and scored four runs. Rebeka Dorantes was hit by a pitch three times and scored three runs.

NORTH TORRANCE 14, SOUTH TORRANCE 1 >> Julieta Roa had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two runs in the Pioneer League win for the Saxons (10-7-1, 3-1)

Priscila Iniguez had two hits and four RBIs. Jaelyn Tout had three hits and two RBIs for North.

REDONDO 4, PALOS VERDES 0>> Bailey Murray pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts and only one walk in the Bay League win for the Sea Hawks (11-5, 3-0).

Daniella Boccanfuss­o allowed four runs, one earned, six hits and struck out 11 for the Sea Kings (10-4, 1-1).

MIRA COSTA 15, CULVER CITY 1 >> Lyla Ortman had two hits and drove in three runs and Lola Fasano and Camille Geissert had two hits apiece for the Mustangs (8-7-1, 3-1) in the Bay League win.

Sarah Shurtleff struck eight in four innings to get the win.
