Serra's Flowers wins two individual races at Arcadia Invitation­al

Mia Flowers led the way for the Serra track and field team Saturday at the Arcadia Invitation­al.

Flowers, a senior, posted the top time in the 100 meters and 200 meters races in the Open Division.

Flowers finished with a time of 11.70 seconds in the 100 and her time was 24.31 in the 200.

Flowers also helped the Serra girls 4×100 relay finish first in the Open Division with a time of 47.96. She was joined on the relay by Jaiya Fletcher, Saielle Howard and Isabelle Samuels.

Serra finished fifth in the Seeded 800 sprint medley with a time of 1:53.47.

Other South Bay highlights from the Arcadia Invitation­al:

• St. Mary Academy's Madison Mosby finished third in the Invitation­al 400 (53.74). In the Invitation­al 4×100 relay, St. Mary's finished third (46.25) and placed fourth in the 4×200 (1:38.99).

• Redondo finished third in the Open 4×100 relay with a time of 48.17

• In the 4×100 shuttle hurdle relay, Mira Costa (1:06.80) and Redondo (1:10.44) finished third and fourth, respective­ly.

• Palos Verdes' Alex Naehu ran the 800 in a time of 1:53.97 to finish in fourth place.

• In the distance medley Invitation­al, Mira Costa (Parker Stickney, Charley McCarthy, Ian Hanson and

Mia Flowers

Owen Franck) finished second with a time of 10:13.78. Redondo (Adam Divinity, Cadence Turner, Aiden Nakai and Alexander Barbarie) was fourth at 10:16.79.

• Carson's Jerald Evangelist was second in the Open Division long jump.

ECC softball coach Rapoza reaches win milestone

El Camino College softball coach Jessica Rapoza reached 250 career wins at the school with an 8-2 victory over Pasadena last week.

Rapoza is the first ECC softball coach to reach the milestone. She is in her ninth season at ECC.

Rapoza, who also coached at Santa Ana College, is now 13 wins away from 400 career victories at the college level.
