Galaxy win, move into first in West
The Galaxy went into this season following an offseason retool of the roster and front office.
With Saturday night's 3-1 win over Vancouver at BC Place, the Galaxy are surprisingly sitting at the top of the Western Conference standings.
Dejan Joveljic, Joseph Paintsil and Diego Fagundez scored second-half goals as the Galaxy (4-1-3) moved past the Whitecaps (4-2-1) into first place.
Vancouver's Brian White tied the score at 1-1 in the 77th minute, but the Galaxy struck back quickly. Paintsil scored in the 80th minute and Fagundez tallied two

LAFC 2, PORTLAND 2 » Mateusz Bogusz scored a goal in each half to guide LAFC to a draw against the Portland Timbers, who lost goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau to a red card early in the second half.
Evander had a goal and an assist to lead the Timbers (2-3-4), who are winless in their last five matches.
LAFC (3-3-3) pulled even in the 21st minute as Bogusz sent a left-footed shot from the left of the box to the bottom-right corner.
The Timbers retook the lead in the 34th minute and went into halftime up 2-1.
However, momentum changed when Crépeau picked up a red card in the 48th minute.
Three minutes later, Bogusz drilled a right-footed shot off a free kick to the top-left corner and LAFC knotted the score. The 22-year-old midfielder has three goals already this year after scoring three times in 20 starts and 28 appearances as a rookie last season.
Hugo Lloris finished with two saves for LAFC.
