Drivers avoid se­ri­ous in­juries in Boul­der Canyon col­li­sion

Two drivers avoided se­ri­ous in­juries Thurs­day in a head-on col­li­sion that forced of­fi­cials to tem­po­rar­ily close a por­tion of Boul­der Canyon Drive, or Colo. 119, near Ned­er­land.

The crash oc­curred about 3:50 p.m. Thurs­day at mile post 31, ac­cord­ing to Master Trooper Gary Cut­ler of the Colorado State Pa­trol.

Cut­ler said Colo. 119 be­tween Cas­tle Rock and Hur­ri­cane Hill was closed.

The crash in­volved two cars, one driven by a 27year-old man and the other driven by 51-year-old woman.

Both drivers re­fused med­i­cal treat­ment, Cut­ler said.

One car went off the road.

Cut­ler did not have de­tails about how far off the road the car trav­eled.

The road was re­opened about 6:20 p.m. The cause is un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
