Boulder County tallies 44 new virus cases

CU Boulder reports 2 new infections

Boulder County recorded 44 coronavirus cases Thursday and no new deaths, while the University of Colorado Boulder counted two new cases.

The county now sits at 4,954 cases and the death toll remains at 83. Data shows there have been 222 hospitalizations and there are 251 disease investigations in progress.

County data shows seven of the 102 cases reported since Monday are from residents affiliated with CU Boulder.

CU Boulder’s on-campus coronavirus testing returned two positive cases from 114 diagnostic tests Wednesday, the university’s dashboard shows. There were 756 screening tests administered Wednesday and nine on-campus isolation spaces are in use, or 1%.

To date, CU Boulder has had 1,112 positive results from oncampus testing.

St. Vrain Valley School District’s coronavirus dashboard shows there have been 37 confirmed cases and that five of those are active.

Boulder County Public Health tweeted Thursday the free coronavirus testing at Gerald Stazio Softball Fields, 2445 Stazio Dr. in Boulder, has been extended until Nov. 8.

Data shows 103.6 new cases per 100,000 in the past 14 days. To date, 81,468 county residents have been tested for the virus. The fiveday average percent of positive tests is 2. The five-day average of

new daily cases Thursday is 23. One week ago, the five-day average was 23.8.

Data updated Thursday shows that, of the county’s cases, 2,854 have been reported in Boulder and 1,071 have been reported in Longmont. There have been 291 cases in Lafayette, 207 in Louisville, 77 in Superior, 72 in Erie, 11 in Lyons, six in Nederland, and 289 in unincorporated Boulder County. Cases have been confirmed in seven people experiencing homelessness.

The rate of infection for Boulder residents is 2,680.9 per 100,000 people, data shows. In

Longmont, the rate of infection is 1,115.7 per 100,000. In Lafayette, the rate is 1,005.2; in Louisville, the rate is 977.2; in Lyons, the rate is 532.4; in Erie, the rate is 639.9; in Superior, the rate is 586.9; and in unincorporated Boulder County, the rate is 650.2 per 100,000.

Statewide, there have been 81,918 positive or probable cases. There have been 2,162 deaths among the cases, and of those, there have been 2,029 deaths because of the coronavirus. There have been 8,127 people hospitalized. Of Colorado’s roughly 5.7 million population, 1,625,527 people have been tested for the virus.
