Moms Demand Action hosting vigil at Fairview High School on Thursday

Organizers of a Thursday night vigil at Fairview High School are encouragin­g participan­ts to join via livestream to make room for community members who have been directly impacted by the Monday shooting at King Soopers in south Boulder.

There will not be any parking available for the vigil, according to a statement by the Colorado chapter of Moms Demand Action released through Boulder Valley School District. Anyone wanting to join in-person at the school at 1515 Greenbriar Blvd. will need to walk, bike or take public transporta­tion to the vigil.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include remarks from U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, Boulder City Councilmem­ber Rachel Friend, gun safety advocates, community faith leaders and gun violence survivors. There also will be a musical performanc­e by cellist Charles Lee and a poetry reading. Those who attend must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
