Free agency winners and losers after opening 10 days

- By Parker Gabriel pgabriel@denverpost.com

Denver has signed 12 players in the first 10 days of free agency, including nine newcomers and three defensive returners. There’s plenty of work still to be done this offseason, but with the heavy lifting in free agency likely mostly done, here’s a look at some winners and losers for the Broncos so far. didn’t happen with the Broncos. Seattle gave Jones, who spent his first four seasons in Denver, $30 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus. Lifechanging money. Jones gets more than $23 million in the first year of his threeyear deal. Even if he plays the length of the contract in Seattle, he can become a free agent again after his age-28 season. He did well getting a big chunk of cash up front and checking in at an average annual value of $17 million per season. The Broncos could have afforded him, as it turns out, but opted to instead give a similar deal (three years, $45.75 million, $32.5 million guaranteed) to Zach Allen.

Led by Daily Camera wrestler of the year Ramon Salazar of Erie, as well as the Longmont Times-call’s best in Jake Glade of Mead, there were 14 wrestlers from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas who made the Colorado High School Activities Association’s all-state list.

There were four first teamers, all state champs. Legacy’s Quinn Funk made the Class 5A first team after he won the 190-pound title, pinning Grandview’s Maxwell Kibbee in the finals.

In 4A, Salazar won his second straight title, winning at 132s to become the first Erie wrestler to win multiple wrestling titles since the early 80s. Glade won at 144s despite wrestling with a torn meniscus and teammate Dalton Berg won at 175s, winning his finals match in sudden victory.

There were five second teamers. They all finished runner-up in their weight classes.

Monarch’s Emilio Trujillo-deen (5A 144s) took silver for a second straight year and was top three for a third year in a row. Mead’s Leister Bowling IV (4A 157s) lost his championship match 3-2, while Holy Family’s

Abram Moore (3A 215s) lost to undefeated wrestler Drew Johnson of Salida in his final.

Lyons’ Jaden Gardner (2A 157s) and Mead’s Ashley Booth (140s)— both of whom attend Lyons — also finished second.

Honorable mentions included Skyline’s Calvin Mendez (113s), Erie’s Carson Hageman (144s) and Broomfield’s Manny Lopez (144s) in 4A, Holy Family’s Brayden Bach (138s) in 3A, and Mead’s Kirsten Davis (145s) in the girls’ division.
