Community celebrates with events, free offers

Several businesses, schools and nonprofits are saying “thank you” to those who served and are serving this Veterans Day with free meals, events and more. Here is a list of offers around Boulder County this weekend.

• American Legion Post 10: The VFW Post 807 and the American Legion Post 10 will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 10, 4760 28th St., Boulder. A lunch will follow the program in the Reception Hall, with the Post providing the main course and potluck style sides and desserts. VFW Post 807 will be collecting items for care packages, which will be sent to the Troops serving in the Middle East.

• Boulder Chamber: The Boulder Chamber will livestream its lighting of the star on Flagstaff Mountain to honor active military and veterans. The stream starts at 6 p.m. Saturday on the Boulder Chamber Youtube channel.

• Buffalo Wild Wings: Buffalo Wild Wings will offer a free order of 10 boneless wings and fries for veterans and active-duty service members with valid ID.

• Chili’s: Veterans and active-duty service members get a free meal in-restaurant with proof of service.

• Colorado Parks and Wildlife: Veterans and active military get free entry into all Colorado state parks by showing proof of military service.

• Dunkin’ Donuts: Veterans and active-duty military get a free donut of their choice in-stores.

• Einstein Bros. Bagels: Veterans and active-duty military get a free hot or iced coffee (any size) with a purchase in-store.

• Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburge­rs: All veterans and current military personnel who visit Freddy’s will receive a free Original Double with Cheese combo meal card. Cards can be redeemed through Nov. 30.

• Longmont Veterans Day Parade: The city of Longmont’s annual Veterans Day parade will start at 11:11 a.m. Saturday and runs through downtown Longmont.

• Parry’s Pizza & Taphouse: Veterans and active service military with valid credential­s get a free fullsize entrée and fountain drink from 11 a.m. — 4 p.m. Saturday.

• Prairie Ridge Elementary School: Prairie Ridge

Elementary fourth graders will put on an outdoor concert today from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. to honor community veterans, 6632 St. Vrain Ranch Blvd. in Firestone.

• Sports Clips: Sports Clips will offer free haircuts to all veterans and active duty military members.

• Starbucks: Veterans get a free tall (12-ounce) hot or cold brewed coffee in stores.

• Veterans Day Ceremony: Join the UMC, 1669 Euclid Ave., and Veteran and Military Affairs at 11 a.m. today to celebrate Veterans Day. The ceremony, with Keynote speaker Dr. Ben Purser, vice president for Geostrateg­ic Risk, Institute

for Security and Technology, will be followed by a reception in the Veterans Memorial Lounge.

• Wendy’s: Those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military can get a free breakfast combo offer with valid military ID or a Veterans Advantage card during breakfast hours.

• Ziggi’s Coffee: The Longmont-based franchise Ziggi’s Coffee will give veterans and active military personnel one free 16-ounce drink with valid military ID or proof of service. This offer is available at all Ziggi’s locations, including the original store at 400 Main St.
