Self-haul limited at central landfill

- Democrat staff

In response to the current COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, effective Friday, the Yolo County Central Landfill will not accept self-haul loads and will only accept business and Landfill account customers.

Those customers will have access to the landfill, located at 44090 County Road 28H in Woodland, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday. It will be closed on Sundays.

County staff will be screening vehicles.

Similarly, the Reuse Paint Shed Program will not operate until further notice.

These measures are being implemented with the best interest of public health in mind as well as for the health and safety of county solid waste workers.

The local Health Officer advises that residential customers making trips to the landfill may be in violation of the Shelter in Place order. Residents should utilize their curbside collection carts for refuse, recycling and yard waste.

Disposal needs must wait until the Shelter in Place order is lifted. For questions regarding self-haul, customers should call 666-8727.

In addition, effective Sunday, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed to residents.

To serve the needs of businesses, hazardous waste appointments will remain available every Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

To ensure the safety of the senior and disabled population, residents aged 65 or older or those with a disability may also contact the landfill at 666-8813 to schedule a free at home pick up of hazardous waste.

All other landfill programs remain in place.
