Drive-Thru Tri-Tip Dinner funds local Kiwanis

-

Woodland Kiwanis will hold a Drive-Thru Tri-Tip dinner on Friday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St. All proceeds from the project will help Kiwanis continue to provide services for young people throughout Woodland. The take-home meal includes a 3-pound barbecued tri-tip, beans, salad, rolls and cookies to serve five. Tickets are $70, which adds up to $14 per individual serving. Tickets are required in advance and are available at the law offices of Kiwanis members Andy Thompson and Chuck Jensen, 535 North St., 662-9144. “The Covid-19 restrictions have made our traditional fundraising events, such as the Kiwanis Poker Tournament and Crab Feed impossible this year,” says Kiwanis community services chairman Dave Sloan. “The Drive-Thru dinner will sustain our programs for children, at a time when they need help the most. We want to express special thanks to our sponsor First Northern Bank and to the City of Woodland for allowing us to use the facility.” Among other recent community projects, Woodland Kiwanis donated a van to the All Leaders Must Serve job readiness program, provided children’s backpacks for the Salvation Army Service Center, funded reading centers for Woodland elementary schools, provided water safety training scholarships through the City of Woodland, and nine scholarships for graduating seniors at Woodland high schools. “We want to express special thanks to our sponsor First Northern Bank and to the city of Woodland for allowing us to use the facility,” stated Sloan.
