Fred Eizai Tsutsui
May 13, 1939 - December 16, 2020 Woodland, CA
( Farmer) Fred Eizai Tsutsui, age 81, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2020, surrounded by his family. Fred was born May 13, 1939, in Sacramento, CA, as the third of five children to Tamotsu and Thelma Tsutsui. In 1943, Fred was interned with his family at the Amache Internment camp in Colorado. After returning from Colorado, he grew up in the Sacramento area, graduating from East Nicolaus High School in 1957 where he was an outstanding athlete, competing in football, basketball, and baseball. Fred married Alice Brown in 1958, and they have lived in Woodland ever since. He continued to participate in local leagues of bowling, softball and basketball along with coaching his children and grandchildren in little league sports. You could count on him being at sporting events for his grandchildren and great- grandchildren to lend an encouraging word. Fred was also a lifetime farmer and co- owner of Tsutsui Enterprises farming in Yolo, Sutter and Solano counties where he worked hard to provide for his family. His big laugh and funny stories and jokes were a staple in and outside his home. He was loved and will be missed by many. Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice; children, Diana ( Dean), David ( Cathy), Daryl ( Karen Lucchesi), Missy ( Ron), and Doug ( Monica); siblings, Peggy Kataoka, Harvey Tsutsui, and Marianne Santa Cruz; 15 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Kidney Foundation. Per Fred’s request, no services will be held.
