Some Yolo County providers are vaccinating those people over 75, but the supply of vaccines remains too low to keep up with demand.

In Monday’s daily briefing, Jenny Tan, the county’s public information officer, explained that county vaccination clinics are still working through the final two tiers in Phase 1A. The county hopes to move to Phase 1B — which includes seniors as well as essential workers — as soon as possible.

“We are still lacking a steady stream of vaccines,” Tan said. “Last week we only received 700 first doses. And the week before that, we only received 600 first doses.”

Some providers, such as Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, UC Davis Health and the Woodland Clinic are vaccinating some of their members over the age of 65. Large healthcare providers receive vaccine doses separate from the county, but their supplies are also limited.

Kaiser is not accepting calls from members trying to schedule a vaccination appointment. Rather, the company will be reaching out by mail or email to set up an appointment time. UC Davis will also contact their members by phone, email or mail.

Sutter Health will be vaccinating by appointment only. Members of this provider who are at least 75 years old should call (844)987-6115, or visit sutterhealth.org/for-patients/health-alerts/covid-19-vaccine.

Dignity Health, which includes the Woodland Clinic, will be calling patients to schedule vaccinations.

According to 2019 population estimates from the US Census Bureau, there are approximately 28,495 individuals over 65 in in Yolo County. Due to the sheer number of seniors, it could take months for the county to finish vaccinating them.

As of Friday — the last time the dashboard was updated — the county has vaccinated only 5,331 individuals in the county.
