Yolo County Sheriff’s deputies as well as others in law enforcement are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday morning near Davis.

Little information was available as of noon, but according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned the shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. at a residence on the 44000 block of County Road 29, which is east of County Road 102 and just southwest of the Yolo County landfill.

Once on scene, a victim of a gunshot was located. Deputies performed lifesaving measures and the female adult was transported to a local hospital with serious injury. An update on her condition was not available as of noon, Monday.

Initial reports were that she had been shot in the chest by a handgun. The suspects were said to be driving a black-colored sedan. However, investigators later reported they were not sure if there “was a vehicle involved” or if “there are individuals outstanding.”

An alert went out to other law enforcement agencies. Woodland police, for example, responded to County Road 102 in the event the unidentified suspects were headed north toward Woodland. However, there was no indication any suspects had been taken into custody.

Yolo County Sheriff’s detectives are currently conducting interviews and additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet available, it was reported.
