Police Report

-

Armed Robbery: Officers were dispatched to a robbery at Hollywood Market on Nov. 6 at 9:10 p.m. The suspect came into the store and grabbed a 12 pack of beer. At the register, the suspect refused to pay for the beer. The suspect pulled the case of beer away from the clerk’s grasp and walked toward the door. The clerk followed the suspect outside. While outside, the suspect lifted his jacket, brandishing the grip of a firearm. The clerk stopped following and the suspect got into a dark-colored vehicle. The vehicle was parked facing southbound, near the YMCA soccer fields. The suspect drove away southbound on College Street toward Gibson Road.

Robbery: An officer was dispatched to a robbery report on Main St. and College Street on Nov. 7 at 8:48 p.m. The victim was followed by subjects at the Stag, after they saw him with a large amount of money. As the victim was walking home, he was pushed down and kicked by the suspect. The suspect stole the victim’s wallet, along with cash, and left eastbound on Main Street. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 30 years old, muscular build. He was wearing a red sweatshirt and black pants, red/black hat and a finely trimmed beard. Warrant/Obstruct/Delay Arrest: A citizen called in to report a subject inside a silver-colored vehicle who was screaming at 7:13 a.m. on Nov. 11. Based on the registration from the vehicle and prior history with it, Amilgar Sarabia, 30, of Wooldand, was likely the person inside. An officer arrived and identified Sarabia who walked into the park. Sarabia had an active warrant for his arrest. He then ran from the officer after being told he was under arrest and had the active warrant. Sarabia returned to his vehicle and jumped into the back seat. Officers used the PA to communicate with Sarabia, but he would not comply. The roadway was blocked for safety and medical was staged due to the high-risk contact. K-1 was called out and responded to the scene. A Crisis Negotiations Team officer attempted communication with Sarabia. After some time, Sarabia exited the vehicle on his own. Once he exited, Sarabia ultimately followed commands while appearing to be heavily under the influence of a control substance. Sarabia was taken into custody and booked at Yolo County Jail for being under the influence and the warrant. Shooting: Officers responded to multiple reports of shots being fired on Nov. 11 at 10:39 p.m. Arriving officers located shell casings, but were unable to find any evidence that any residence or vehicle were struck by the gunfire. Witnesses advised a small, possibly gold sedan was the suspect vehicle.

HOST

HOST traveled to Sacramento to get a view of how their IMPACT team works within the community. It was useful to see the different formats for shelters and safe spaces being used. They also came back with a city ordinance that we do not have for excessive trash. HOST has also spoken with officers at Lodi Police Department that were previously assigned to a homeless team, which is now disbanded.

HOST will continue to reach out to other departments to see how they help reduce the impact of homelessness on the community. HOST made 62 contacts, offered services to 10of them of which one accepted services. There were five camps located and five camps cleaned up. There were two arrests made.

This is a synopsis of reports provided by the Woodland Police Department and does not include all calls or arrests or some cases which are under active investigation.
