Digital Minds robotics team receives a $3,000 grant from Bayer Fund
The team features students from both Pioneer and Woodland High School
FIRST enables teams of students to compete with others in building, designing and programming their own robots to perform preassigned tasks, giving students a chance to get involved with real-world engineering.
Students at Pioneer and Woodland High School received grant funding for their robotics team to enhance their science and engineering skills.
Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer, recently awarded a onetime $3,000 grant to Digital Minds to support their participation in the FIRST Robotics program.
“We here at Digital Minds are thrilled to receive continued support from the Bayer Fund,” said Co-Captain of Digital Minds Matthew Rowe. “The Bayer Fund has been a long-time supporter of our team, and we appreciate the money invested into our program each year. The funds we receive help us to keep our program alive and free of charge to the STEM-interested students across Woodland.”
Digital Minds will use this grant to participate in FIRST Robotics educational programs and competitions. FIRST enables teams of students to compete with others in building, designing and programming their own robots to perform preassigned tasks, giving students a chance to get involved with real-world engineering.
“Bayer Woodland employees are pleased to support the Digital Minds Robotics team of Pioneer and Woodland High Schools,” said Vegetables R&D Head of Sustainability & Engagement at Bayer Lisa McDaniel. “Bayer recognizes the importance of hands-on experience and actively supports initiatives to nurture students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Participating on the Digital Minds team also provides great opportunities for students to practice communication skills and foster self-confidence as well as collaborative skills for tomorrow’s leaders, scientists, and engineers.”
Bayer Fund’s sponsorship of FIRST Robotics teams continues the nonprofit’s intentional support of programs that improve STEM education. Over the past five years, Bayer Fund has contributed over $40 million to STEM outreach efforts.
