Lila Louise Duncan Sills

Surrounded by her family, Lila passed away peacefully on Good Friday.

She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Kenneth Sills; son-in-law, Thomas McGill; siblings, Lester, Robert, Benjamin, Marlene, and Dennis She is

survived by her children, Cindy McGill, Brian Sills, and Karen Weiner; seven grandchild­ren, five great-grandchild­ren; and brothers, Sterling, Dale, and John.

Lila grew up on a farm in Capay Valley, the second of nine children. Parents Roy and Bessie Duncan provided for her to attend business school in Sacramento. She met husband Ken at that time and they purchased a home where they raised their three children. They placed a high value on education and made many sacrifices in order for them to graduate from college.

Lila enjoyed her time with family and friends. She loved traveling and sports, especially bowling and golf. She enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, and gardening. She was proud of her Scottish-Native American heritage and that she was a fourth generation California­n. Lila showed abundant hospitalit­y throughout her life, opening her home to all and showing immense support. Always courageous, favorite adventures included helicopter, hot air balloon rides, flying in a vintage WWII airplane, and whitewater rafting in Alaska.

She truly felt blessed and lived a wonderful 90 years with love, zest and happiness. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 615 Vine Ave., Roseville, on May 20 at 2 p.m. Reception following at the church.
