Red Hook turns aside Saugerties

SAUGERTIES — Wins at first and third singles, along with first doubles, was just enough for Red Hook High girls tennis team as the Raiders slipped by Saugerties 3-2 in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League Monday.

Ella Lindholm-Uzzi was a straight-set winner at first singles for Red Hook (6-1), while Allix Coon prevailed, also in two sets, at third singles.

The first doubles tandem of Marisa Flannery and Sophie Jennis provided the winning point.

Emily Langton led the Sawyers (1-5), rallying to win second singles.

Ella Lindholm-Uzzi (RH) def. Giovana Guamares, 6-3, 6-2; Emily Langton (S) def. Clea Schumer, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-0; Allix Coon (RH) def. Meghan Creen, 6-3, 7-5.

Marisa Flannery-Sophie Jennis (RH) def. Tavin Mitchell-Maggie Petersen, 6-1, 6-1; Erin Poll-Liz Buono (S) def. Jax Davies-Aidan McLaughlin, 6-2, 6-3.

Team records: Red Hook 6-1; Saugerties 1-5. Marlboro 4, Wallkill 1 At Wallkill, the (6-2) Lady Dukes swept the doubles matches and took second and third singles to beat the Panthers.

Wallkill (4-3) got its lone point at first singles from Olga Ostrovetsk­y.

Olga Ostrovetsk­y (W) def. Allison Laubach, 6-0, 6-0; Madi Ross (M) def. Jenny Rutkowski, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-2; Gabriella Vacante ( M) def. Nicole DeRobertis, 6-2, 6-2.

Rebecca Bishop-Emma Messenger (M) def. Jamie Wilkin-Danielle Riemer, 7-5, 6-3; Katarina Harpolis-Adriana Vacante (M) def. Lisa Losito-Nicole DeStefano, 6-4, 6-3. Team records: Wallkill 4-2; Marlboro 6-2. Roosevelt 3 New Paltz 2 At Hyde Park, Jessica Schroedl and Taylor Perre were singles winners for the Presidents.

Perre survived a threeset, two-and-a-half hour marathon match at third singles for Roosevelt (4-3). Alice Lee won in two sets for New Paltz (6-2).
