Richard O. Perusse, “Dick,” “Grampy,” 75, of Cedar Drive, died suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 at his home. He was born in Boston, Mass., on Nov. 10, 1939, a son of the late Edward C. and Margaret Overby Perusse.

Mr. Perusse served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1963. After his discharge, he served as a police officer in Larchmont, N.Y., a sheriff’s deputy for Ulster County, Chief of Police for the Village of Rosendale, and ultimately retired as a Sergeant for the N.Y.S. Department of Correction­s. He served at the Eastern Correction­al Facility in Napanoch. Mr. Perusse also volunteere­d as President of the Rondout Valley Little League for several years. He also coached baseball and softball.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, June C. Perusse; three sons, John J. Perusse (Alexis) of Kingston, Charles E. Perusse (Wendy) of N.C., Stephen F. Mulholland of Fla.; four daughters, Julie A. Kelleher (Jeffrey) of Hurley, Jennifer L. Mulholland of Fla., Dawn Countryman (Dana) of Wallkill, and Lauri A. Mulholland of Accord. He is also survived by grandchild­ren, Mason, Griffin, Keaton, Tyler, Jordan, Ashley, Kacey, Jessica, Lauren, Caitlin, Michelle, and Matthew; and many nieces, nephews, and his beloved dogs, Jake and Jorja.

Richard was predecease­d by a brother, Edward C. Perusse and a niece, Diane M. Perusse.

Friends are invited to call 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. The Rev. Arlene Dawber will conduct funeral services at 4 p.m. following the visitation. American Legion Post 1219 Color Guard will then conduct military services.
