Ellen Carrie (Keator) Bruns, 87, of Kingston

Ellen Carrie (Keator) Bruns, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Golden Hill Nursing Center.

She was born in Kingston on Feb. 13, 1927, to the late Raymond L. Keator and Ida (Magee) Keator.

Ellen graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1944, and the Moran Business School. She was employed at Central Hudson for several years, then worked as a N.Y. State Tax Clerk in the Ulster County Surrogate’s Court until her retirement in 1991. She later spent many years volunteering with RSVP at George Washington School and Golden Hill Nursing Center. An avid walker, she also enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, visiting her neighbors, and caring for her pets.

Ellen was married to Alfred Bruns from March 28, 1948, until his death in 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Kolenda and her husband Gerald of Staatsburg; her granddaughter, Julie, of Rochester; her grandson, John of Staatsburg; and Henry, her beloved cat.

The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Hill for their kindness and patience during Ellen’s stay.
