SAUGERTIES » Herman D. Daley, 92, formerly of Teetsel Street, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Kingston City Hospital.

Born Aug. 14, 1922, in Cementon, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Detofoli Daley.

A veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of sergeant, serving four years in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. Honorably discharged in 1946, he was awarded the Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the World War II Bronze Service Stars and the Philippine­s Liberation Ribbon.

He was employed at Alpha Portland Cement Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the United Lime, Cement and Gypsum Workers Union, Saugerties Senior Citizens Club No. 2, the Catholic Boys Brigade, and was a 60-year member of Saugerties American Legion Post 72.

An avid bowler, he belonged to the Saugerties Bowlers Club, where he bowled in several leagues and in various tournament­s. In his spare time, he loved doing carpentry work, and in his youth served as an altar boy at St. Mary’s Church in Cementon.

He was predecease­d by his beloved wife, Mamie T. Daley, and a brother, Peter Daley Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Pearson and Donna and her husband Ed Mower; one son, David Daley and his wife, Julie; a sister, Irene Daley of Saugerties; grandson, Keith Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral procession will form at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at SeamonWils­ey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties. Thence to St. Mary of the Snow R.C. Church, where at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, with military honors by Saugerties American Legion Post 72.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
