SAUGERTIES >> Arnold E. Vernoy, 85, of Edith Avenue, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at his residence.

Born Sept. 26, 1929, in Monticello, he was the son of the late Charles and Lela Kessler Vernoy.

A graduate of Monticello High School, Class of 1947, he continued on to DeForest’s Training, graduating in 1951. He also attended several adult training classes for radio repair in the Monticello School District.

He joined IBM in April 1956 as a Lab Tech and rose to Senior Quality Analyst, retiring after 35 years in 1991. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, the Columbia Mid Hudson Valley Sons of the American Revolution, and the Col. Augustus van Horne Ellis Camp 124, New York Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

He was active in genealogy, compiling a book of descendent­s of the first Vernoys to arrive in America in 1664. He was predecease­d by his wife, Virginia Mangona, whom he married on Oct. 14, 1956. Survivors include two sons, Charles and his wife Joannie of South Carolina and Steven Vernoy and his fiancee, Candace Gunn of Saugerties; one daughter, Roseann and her husband Walt Struber of Saugerties; one granddaugh­ter, Brittany Rose Vernoy of Saugerties. One grandchild, four stepgrandc­hildren and a stepgreat-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties. His funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
