Police say man stockpiled weapons
Authorities say a Queens man has been arrested after investigators found a cache of weapons, including handguns and shotguns, in his one-bedroom apartment.
Thirty- three- year- old Guo Shou was arrested Tuesday night on reckless endangerment and weapons possession charges after investigators raided his apartment in the Rego Park neighborhood.
Police seized 15 handguns, two shotguns, more than 45,000 rounds of ammunition and 225 pounds of smokeless gunpowder. They say Shou also had unassembled parts of assault rif les and bulletproof vests. Authorities say he had a license for all but one of the guns.
Prosecutors say Shou was arrested for allegedly “recklessly creating a threat to public safety” by stockpiling the weapons and ammunition.
Shou’s attorney did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
Fraternity president pleads not guilty to sex assault, other counts
A 21-yearold president of a Cornell University fraternity has pleaded not guilty to charges that he sexually assaulted a woman.
Wolfgang Ballinger was released on his own recognizance Tuesday following a hearing in Ithaca.
The New York City man has been charged with felony counts of attempted rape, criminal sexual assault and sex abuse.
Police say a woman told them she was at the Psi Upsilon f rat house early on the morning of Jan. 31 when she was led to Ballinger’s bedroom. According to court documents, Ballinger then forcefully tried to have sex with her despite her telling him she wasn’t interested and was too intoxicated.
Cornell has suspended the fraternity.
Ballinger’s at t orney declined to comment after Tuesday’s preliminary hearing. Ballinger wasn’t in the courtroom after waiving his right to personally appear.
Police seek person who tossed puppy from car
Authorities are looking for the individual who tossed a 5-month- old puppy out of a moving car on Long Island.
Police and the Nassau County SPCA say it happened Saturday night on a residential street in Uniondale.
They say a witness observed the door of the car opening and the pup being thrown out as the vehicle slowed down.
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for i nformation leading to an arrest. Officials have named the female puppy Bandit. They say she was not injured but appeared fearful and apprehensive. They say she shows some signs of past abuse.
The puppy is black and appears to be a lab, pit bull and bulldog mix.
She’s being cared for at Massapequa Pet Vet. The SPCA is trying to find her a good home.
