Alexis P. Suter Band plays Saturday at center
The Alexis P. Suter Band will commemorate Black History Month with a performance on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. at the Catskill Music Foundation’s Orpheum Film and Performing Arts Center, 6050 Main St., Tannersville.
The popular blues band will share the stage with the talented and accomplished Ray Blue Organ Trio
The Alexis P. Suter Band is no stranger to the New York stage, having been the opening act at The Midnight Ramble in Woodstock over 90 times. As special guest openers for The Levon Helm Band, it played to sold-out audiences at the Beacon Theater, the Bethel Woods Center For The Arts, The Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, N.J., and Central Park’s Summerstage.
Since then, the band has been in high demand at North American Roots and Blues festivals, venues and events — including The 50th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival, Bluestock, Musikfest, Beale Street Music Festival, Mont Tremblant Music Festival and the Cincinnati Blues Festival. It also contributed a song to the incredible Songs After Sandy Project (songsaftersandy.com) and Restore Red Hook. This is a threeCD compilation of some of the biggest artists in music today.
The Ray Blue Organ trio is led by New York Blues Hall of Fame member Ray Blue. The New York native saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator will return to his home state to add the Catskill Mountain Foundation to his portfolio of performances at top venues worldwide. A former member of The Sun Ra Arkestra, he has shared the stage with such musicians as Steve Turre, Eddie Henderson, Gary Bartz, T.K. Blue, Blues Legend Bob Gaddy, Wycliff Gordon and Benny Powell.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
