City police still looking for man who robbed bank

- Freeman staff

City police on Friday continued to ask for the public’s assistance in finding the man who robbed an Uptown bank two days earlier.

The Rondout Savings Bank branch at 130 Schwenk Drive was robbed about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday by a man who did not show a gun but claimed to have one, police said. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. No one was injured.

On Friday, Kingston Police Department Detective Lt. Thierry Croizer said he was unable to share any new leads in the investigation.

Police have released security camera images of the suspect, described as a male about 5-foot-10 who was wearing a black hat, sunglasses, a black shortsleeved shirt, dark pants and white sneakers. The photos are posted on the police department’s Facebook page, facebook.com/ KingstonPD.

“If this was a friend of mine, I think I would be able to identify him,” Croizer said, adding that police

hoped someone looking at the photos would recognize “the shape of his arm” or

his posture and come forward.

“I hope somebody recognizes this individual and recognizes he’s done something wrong,” Croizer said.

Croizer said the man was described to police

as 30 to 40 years old and weighing between 220 and 240 pounds. Anyone who has information about the suspect is asked to call the Kingston Police Department at (845) 331-1671 or (845) 331-4499, send an email to breyes@kingstonny.gov or use the “Submit a Tip” feature on the department’s Facebook page.

The same bank branch was robbed in July 2014, and three people ultimately were charged.
