Helen Olson, age 98, of Tillson, N.Y., passed away peacefully at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center in Kingston on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

Born Aug. 10, 1917, she was the last surviving of nine siblings born to Charlie and Anna Litwen, of Little Falls, N.Y.

She was married for 46 years to Edwald G. Olson, who predecease­d her in 1996. Married in 1949, they traveled to many places in the United States and South America for his employment, finally settling in Tillson to raise a family.

Helen was raised on a dairy farm in Little Falls and knew the value of hard work. She was an excellent cook and baker and frequently donated to the church, the schools, and local charities. She was a longtime devoted member of the Tillson Reformed Church, then the United Reformed Church in Bloomingto­n, N.Y., where she also served as treasurer and participat­ed in the choir. She worked for many years with the Board of Elections, assisting at the polls in primary and general elections. She enjoyed singing and dancing, particular­ly if it involved a good Polka, and she loved to interact with people.

She is survived by her sons, Alan Olson, wife Carlotta and grandson Eric, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Wayne Olson, spouse Donna, and grandson Evan Olson and his wife Marisha, of San Jose, Calif. Other surviving relatives include Stephanie Litwen and Cheryl Ann Lower of Little Falls, N.Y., and Stephenie Eisenschmi­d and family members of Fairport, N.Y.

She had a great many friends over the years, many of which have gone, but all of them enjoyed her spirit and energy.

A private memorial service will be held by the family on a later date.
