John O. Henry, 87, of Hurley

John O. Henry, a lifelong resident of the Kingston area, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2016, at home.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1928, to the late Michael and Loretta (Snyder) Henry, and was the second of two children, including his sister Joan Barten, who predecease­d him.

John was predecease­d by his loving wife of 58 years, Gertrude (Netherwood) Henry.

John is survived by his daughters, Jane Turshman and her husband Al of Apalachin, N.Y., Laurie Cerami and her husband Tom of Wilmington, N.C. and Sue Walkowski and her husband Larry of Leander, Texas. He is also survived by his six grandchild­ren, Brian Turshman and his wife Alison Kunkel, Kevin Turshman and his wife Melissa, Jacquelyn Chaney and her husband Mike, Danielle Metallo and her husband Michael, Lauren and Stephen Walkowski; and two great-grandchild­ren, Kendra and Luke Turshman.

John graduated from Kingston High School in 1947. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. He retired from IBM after 32 years of service. He enjoyed skiing and camping with his family and traveling with his wife.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh. com). John’s family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral procession will form Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
