Michelle C. Swanson of West Hurley graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
Swanson was also named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. She will attend Siena’s Graduate School of Business in the fall.
She is the daughter of Patricia Manfrates and Stephen Swanson of West Hurley.
••• Anna Elizabeth Pinter of Wallkill graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., with an undergraduate degree.
She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the university’s School of the Arts.
••• Two area residents — Gabriella Humphrey of Gardiner and Matthew Cino of Pine Bush — graduated from Buffalo State, with undergraduate degrees.
••• Joshua DeJoy of New Paltz, a student at the State University of New York at Geneseo, was named a presidential scholar for the 201617 academic year.
DeJoy will be among 15 new presidential scholars at SUNY Geneseo. Theyare topachieving members of the senior class who also serve as ambassadors for the college. They represent a variety of academic areas and exemplify the college’s institutional values.
••• Rachel Audrey Galina Gilman of Hurley was named to the dean’s list at New York University in New York City for the spring semester, with a 4.0 grade point average.
Students earn dean’s list status by achieving a grade point average of 3.75 or higher. Gilman was also promoted to news director of the university’s radio station, WNYU-FM 89.1 for the 201617 academic year. She is the executive producer of “The Rundown” and executive producer and host of “The Write Stuff,” featured on WNYU’s weekly lineup. She is also a staff columnist of the weekly feature “Hump Day Update” on WSN’s “The Highlighter,” as well as a staff writer for The Odyssey at the university.
Many of Gilman’s fiction and nonfiction works were published and/or given awards during the past year at the university. Her work “Inside” was published in Minetta Review’s Fall 2015 issues. Minetta Review is the oldest literary journal on the university campus.
Another of Gilman’s works, “J,” was published and awarded a prize in the Gallatin Review’s 31st Volume, the literary journal for the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She was also asked to give a reading of this work at the launch party for the journal.
