New Paltz grabs MHAL quadrangul­ar sweep

New Paltz High swept a MidHudson Athletic League girls cross country quadrangul­ar meet. The Huguenots defeated Marlboro 20-40 and Rondout Valley 15-43 and also took a 1550 decision from Saugerties.

New Paltz High improved to 8-1 with a 175-179 win over Rondout Valley in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League boys golf match at New Paltz Golf Course.

Travis Hornbeck and Brennon O’Connell each shot a 43 to lead the Huguenots. Jeffrey Shaver carded a 44 and Branch Cranfield added a 45 to round the New Paltz scorers.

Nick Puleo’s 43 paced the (5-5) Ganders. Jaxson Koebel-Secky and Corey Burke each added a 44 and Casey Burke contribute­d a 48 in the loss. Roosevelt 148, Red Hook 171

At Staatsburg, Jeff Peters had four birdies and three pars en-route to a two-under 32 as the Presidents prevailed.

Max LaFalce (37), Zach Plambeck (39) and Jake Rand (40) also scored for (9-2) Roosevelt.

Austin Lundstedt (34), James Rosetti (40), Jacob Morrison (48) and Jacob Kehr (49) paced (5-5) Red Hook. Rhinebeck 183, Millbrook 195

At Red Hook, Steven Byrum shot a 42 to take medalist honors as the Hawks topped the Blazers.

John Fleming (46) Alex Pietras (47) and Parker Knoop (48) scored for (62) Rhinebeck.

Pat Kyle carded a 47; Tyler Schaaad and Colby Whalen each shot a 49 and Mitchell Wiemer added a 50 for Millbrook.
