Undefeated Saugerties defeats Wallkill, 30-23
Marlboro, New Paltz, Pine Plains capture dominating victories
Undefeated Saugerties High improved to 5-0 with a 30-23 victory over Wallkill in Section 9, Class A football.
Matt Bucci ran for one touchdown and threw for another as undefeated Saugerties High improved its record to 5-0 with a 30-23 victory over Wallkill in Section 9, Class A football.
The sophomore quarterback rushed for 128 yards and passed for 44, including a TD toss to Zach Hartrum. Nick Dennis and Robbie Trincellito both ran for touchdowns.
Dennis also had a big interception that turned the game around. Anthony Owen had a sack and Garrett Quinn made nine tackles for the Sawyers, who are now 4-0 in Class A.
Quarterback A.J. Dembroski rushed for 110 yards, Dan Petrowicz scored two touchdowns and Matt Stewart had one to lead (12, 2-3) Wallkill, which was playing the first game on its new turf field. Marlboro 56, Rondout 0
At Kyserike, Billy Williamson, John Perugino, Sam Mongelli and Phil DeSantis all had big nights for (2-0, 4-1) Marlboro in a Class B, Division I game.
Williamson rushed for 101 yards and four touchdowns and DeSantis ran for 201 yards and one score. Mongelli completed 10-of-17 passes for 216 yards and two TDs, including one to Perugino and a 64-yard strike to Teige Napoli. Perugino, who ran for 83 yards and another score, caught seven passes for 156 yards.
Myles Barrington, Jack Galage and Perugino all had interceptions and Zazch Atkins had 12 tackles, including two sacks, for the Dukes, who led 35-0 at halftime.
Ben Hikade threw for 96 yards, including 44 to Avery Coston, and
also intercepted a pass to lead (0-3, 2-3) Rondout Valley. New Paltz 48, Highland 14
At New Paltz, Jimmy Verney ran for three touchdowns and also threw a 20yard touchdown pass to Kumar
Singh to lead the (2-0, 4-1) Huguenots in a Class B, Division I game. Joe DiMarco also scored twice, on a 2-yard run and a 95-yard kickoff return.
Kenny Verney, who also ran for a TD, had nine tackles and Guy Soumah seven to anchor the Hugie defense. Highland (0-2, 2-3) scored twice in the final minutes on Max Vidal to Isiah Daubon TD passes. Pine Plains 34, Ellenville 0
AT Pine Plains, Matt Beam caught one pass for a touchdown and ran for another to lead Pine Plains/ Rhinebeck to its first win.
Hunter Parks rushed for 123 yards on 15 carries for the (1-3, 1-4) Bombers in the Class B, Division II game.
Ellenville fell to 0-3 in the division and 0-5 overall.
