Warrior Weekend will honor wounded veterans

The 11th annual Warrior Weekend will take place Friday through Monday, with honorees scheduled to arrive at 4:55 p.m. Friday at the Rhinecliff train station.

The event honors wounded veterans who travel to the Hudson Valley for a weekend of activities.

Motorcycle groups wishing to escort the visitors should assemble at 4:30 p.m. in the park-and-ride lot on Route 199, near the east end of the KingstonRh­inecliff Bridge.

The visitors will travel by limousine to the Quality Inn on Route 28 in in the town of Ulster, next to All-American Ford, via the following route: Route 199 west over the KingstonRh­inecliff Bridge; Route 32 south to East Chester Street Bypass (Route 9W), past Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1386, to the traffic light at the Ulster Avenue intersecti­on; Ulster Avenue to Albany Avenue to Col. Chandler Drive; Chandler Drive to the Thruway Exit 19 roundabout; then onto Route 28 to the Quality Inn.

The visitors will be escorted on the last leg to the hotel by the Ancient Order of Hibernians Pipe Band.

All color guards are welcome to participat­e at the Quality Inn at 5:30 p.m.

Spectators wishing to view the procession are encouraged by the event’s organizers — American Legion Post 150 in Kingston — to bring a flag and gather at the VFW post on East Chester Bypass; on Albany Avenue just before Col. Chandler Drive; or at the Quality Inn.
