Robert A. Bondar, 80, of the Hudson Valley, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at his home.

Born in New York, he was a son of the late William and Anna Bondar.

Robert was a teacher at the Robert R. Graves Elementary School in Port Ewen, N.Y. In addition, he worked as a Recreation Director for the towns of Kingston and Esopus, as well as the IBM Recreation Center. He also served in the National Guard.

He was a member of the Kingston High baseball team, and was inducted into the Kingston City Baseball Hall of Fame. He attended SUNY Oneonta, where he was captain of the basketball team.

Throughout his life, he was an avid skier, tennis player and all-around sports fan.

He was a devoted father and grandfathe­r.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Lynn Bondar and her partner, Annia Reyes; his son, Brett Bondar; his brother, Donald Bondar; his granddaugh­ter, Graciela Reyes-Bondar; his niece, Stacey Bondar; his nephew, Darren Bondar; his niece, Danielle Conway-Mason; his nephew, Christophe­r Conway; and many friends.

Funeral Service and interment for Robert will be held privately.

Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. is honored to assist the family with the arrangemen­ts.
