Ann E. Fitzsimmon­s, 77, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Kingston Hospital.

Born Dec. 3, 1938 in Grammercy Park, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Poulnot Heyden and was formerly of Floral Park.

Ann was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School and Sacred Heart Academy in Garden City. She graduated from Hollins College in Virginia and received her masters degree from Hofstra University. After college, she was a secretary at IBM in Garden City and then taught 5th grade at Woodhull Academy in Hollis, Queens, with two of her best friends. She later worked in the real estate industry until her retirement.

She was active in the Floral Park Tennis Associatio­n, and was a dedicated girl scout leader. She was active with the Olive Senior Art Club and the Bard Lifelong Learning organizati­on.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Robert H. Fitzsimmon­s, March 17, 2007; her stepmother, Lily Boo Fitzsimmon­s; and two brothers, Andrew and Peter Heyden.

Surviving are her children, Robert Fitzsimmon­s of Kingston, Susan Martin of Salisbury, N.H., Kathleen Fitzsimmon­s of New Rochelle and Laura Fitzsimmon­s of Cornwell; two sisters, Elizabeth Norton of Islip and Christina Estes of Shokan; four grandchild­ren, Meghan Castro, Timothy, Abigail and Matthew Martin; and a great-granddaugh­ter, Issabelle Castro-Fitzsimmon­s.

Friends will be received Friday 2 to 8 p.m. at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock.

The funeral procession will for 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, thence to St. John’s Church, Holly Hills drive, Woodstock. Burial will be at a later date at Winchell Cemetery, Shokan.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­on to St., Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciate­d.
