Christopher P. Gallo, 83, of Kingston
KINGSTON >> Christopher P. “Chris” Gallo, 83, of Clifton Avenue, Kingston, N.Y., died at Ten Broeck Commons Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. Born in East Kingston on Oct. 12, 1933, he was a son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Natale) Gallo.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Gallo served during the Korean War. He was the owner of The Mohican Market, located on John Street in uptown Kingston, from 1975 to 1998. He worked at the market since the age of 16, interrupted by his service in the Army, and then returned to work and eventually purchased the business. He was previously employed by the Fallsburgh Bottling Works as a salesman. Chris was an avid bowler and inducted into the Kingston Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He was a loving grandfather and great grandfather.
Surviving are four sons, Perry (Margot), Paul (Trisha), Peter (Sharon) and Patrick (Theresa); one daughter, Christina Boyle (Greg Pugliese); an aunt, Anna Serravello; sisters-inlaw, Antoinette Gallo, Julia Gallo and Millie Gallo; 13 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. His wife, Doris E. Gallo; daughter, Ann-Marie Snide; four brothers, Frank, Anthony, Louis, and Dominick Gallo; as well as one sister, Theresa Schlanger, predeceased him.
The family is grateful to the staff of Ten Broeck Commons, HealthAlliance Hospital Emergency Room staff and the Kingston Fire Department.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). Friends will be received a the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Inurnment will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
