Jessica Hausele of Wallkill, a student at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, was the recipient of an endowed scholarship.
A Wallkill High graduate majoring in accounting, she received the Lee and Cathi Thomas Scholarship.
••• Five area residents attending the State University of New York at New Paltz — Konrad Dalland of Stone Ridge, Katherine Dobosh of Rosendale, Michelle Pirrone of Highland, and Jessica Schrufer and Nicholas Tantillo, both of Gardiner — were inducted into the university’s Honors Program.
The program seeks to develop and intensify skills from a conceptual point of view in a diverse multidisciplinary analytical environment that nurtures independent thinking, creativity, respect and social responsibility.
••• Three area residents attending Siena College in Loudonville — Shelby Crespino of Kingston, Danielle Frederickson of Saugerties and Jada Hawkins-Hill of Catskill — participated in the annual Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Summer Symposium in the Maloney Great Room.
At the event, Siena students shared with the community the faculty-led research they completed over the summer.
Crespino’s presentation was on “Tourism and Revitalization in the Arbor Hill Neighborhood of Albany.” Frederickson’s presentation was on “Soft Landing of Structured vs. Unstructured Peptides.” Hawkins-Hill’s presentation was on “Gravity Battery,” as well as “Rejuvenating the General Physics Labs Using Evidence based Pedagogy.”
••• Dalton Thompson of Tivoli, a student at the State University of New York at Oneonta, is studying abroad during the fall semester.
A senior majoring in psychology, he is studying at Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka, Japan.
